Thousands march in Rabat to show solidarity with Palestinians

(MENAFN) In Rabat, thousands of Moroccans gathered in the city center on Sunday to demonstrate their support for the Palestinian cause amid rising regional tensions. Many participants wore Palestinian keffiyehs and waved both Moroccan and Palestinian flags near the parliament building, chanting slogans critical of Israel and urging Moroccan authorities to cut all political ties with Israel.

The protest was organized by the Moroccan National Action Group for Palestine along with local human rights groups. Abdelhafidh Sraiti, coordinator of the Action Group, said, "This march reaffirms the Moroccan people's unwavering support for Palestine."

Some demonstrators also voiced strong condemnation of Israel and the United States over recent strikes on Iran, labeling U.S. actions as “imperialism.”

Morocco had formalized diplomatic relations with Israel through a normalization agreement signed on December 22, 2020.
