Gaza Bleeds: Israeli Horrendous Assaults Kill Over 62,800 Palestinians

(MENAFN) At least 62,819 Palestinians have lost their lives since Israel resumed its violent assault on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, according to a statement from the Health Ministry on Tuesday.

The Ministry disclosed that 75 individuals were killed and 370 others wounded in the last 24 hours alone, pushing the total number of injuries to 158,629. Additionally, three more fatalities were reported due to starvation and malnutrition, including two children, which brings the total famine-related deaths to 303, with 117 of those being minors.

"Many victims remain trapped under rubble or on the streets," the Ministry stated, underscoring the ongoing difficulty of reaching survivors due to the relentless Israeli airstrikes and lack of necessary rescue resources.

Since March 18, when Israel resumed its military operations after breaking a ceasefire agreement, a further 10,975 Palestinians have been killed, and 46,588 more have sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue to target civilians seeking humanitarian aid. In the last 24 hours, 17 individuals were killed, and 122 others were wounded. Since May 27, a total of 2,140 Palestinians have died and more than 15,737 have been injured while attempting to access essential aid, according to the Ministry's figures.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, exacerbated by Israel’s full blockade of the enclave since early March, which has left its 2.4 million residents facing severe famine, rampant disease, and the collapse of critical services.

Adding to the growing international scrutiny, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the conflict. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its military actions in Gaza.
