Google Restores UpScrolled After Brief Suspension
The platform, created by Palestinian-Australian developer Issam Hijazi as a TikTok competitor, announced its return via its official X account, stating: "It's official… We're back together! Google Play reinstated,"
The suspension occurred Saturday—coinciding with Valentine's Day—when the application vanished from Google's download marketplace. UpScrolled had informed users: "Looks like Google Play put our relationship on pause this Valentine's Day. Our app is currently unavailable for download on the Play Store."
The company immediately escalated the matter, explaining: "We are taking this seriously and working closely with the Google Play Team to resolve this."
Following reinstatement, technical challenges emerged as the platform struggled with infrastructure demands. UpScrolled reported it was "currently experiencing server issues due to an incredible surge of new users," though engineers subsequently resolved the outages.
The application has experienced explosive growth in recent days, with its user count skyrocketing from 150,000 to several million within a single week—drawing significant attention across digital media circles.
Since its June 2025 launch, UpScrolled has capitalized on mounting discontent with established social platforms. Numerous TikTok content creators have raised concerns about alleged "shadow banning" targeting pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel material on the platform.
