Israeli Settlers Torch Palestinian Vehicle in West Bank
The Al-Bidar Human Rights Organization confirmed in a statement that settlers stormed the village at dawn and completely destroyed the vehicle by fire. According to the group, settlers also attempted to target several additional homes and vehicles before local residents intervened, confronting the attackers and compelling them to withdraw.
Al-Bidar characterized the incident as part of a broader pattern of deliberate aggression, warning that targeting civilian property in this manner directly threatens the safety and stability of Palestinian communities and further inflames tensions across the West Bank.
The raid is far from an isolated incident. Settler violence against Palestinian villages has intensified in recent months, particularly in areas adjacent to settlements and settlement outposts — with attacks ranging from arson and property destruction to physical assaults on residents, demolition of homes, burning of farmland and denial of agricultural access.
Approximately 750,000 Israeli settlers currently reside across 141 settlements and 224 outposts throughout the West Bank, including some 250,000 in 15 settlements in occupied East Jerusalem. Rights groups and Palestinian officials say these attacks form part of a systematic effort to forcibly displace Palestinian residents from their land.
The scale of violence in May alone underscores the severity of the situation — the Israeli army carried out 1,108 documented attacks against Palestinians and their property that month, while settlers conducted an additional 551, according to the Palestinian government's Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
Since October 8, 2023, cumulative figures paint an even starker picture. Official Palestinian data indicate that the Israeli army and settlers have killed at least 1,169 Palestinians, wounded 12,666 others, arrested approximately 23,000, and displaced a further 33,000 across the occupied territory.
