Israeli Strike Kills Palestinian Couple in Gaza Despite Ceasefire
The attacks occurred amid continued reported Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025.
A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital said the bodies of the couple and four injured Palestinians, including three women, were brought to the facility following an Israeli airstrike on a home in western Gaza City.
Witnesses reported that an Israeli helicopter fired at least one missile at a family residence near Al-Shifa Hospital, killing the couple and wounding others. The strike also ignited a fire inside the house, which civil defense crews later managed to extinguish.
In eastern Gaza City, Israeli forces continued artillery bombardment and heavy gunfire directed toward Palestinian homes and tents sheltering displaced families in the Tuffah neighborhood. Witnesses said military vehicles and quadcopter drones were also involved in the firing.
The shelling and gunfire persisted throughout the night, accompanied by several explosions as Israeli forces demolished homes and civilian structures in areas under their control, according to eyewitnesses.
Along Gaza City’s northern coastline, Israeli warships fired bullets and shells toward the shore. Separately, Israeli military vehicles opened heavy fire toward the Sudaniya area in the northwestern part of the enclave.
In southern Gaza, a Palestinian girl was injured when Israeli forces fired toward tents housing displaced people in the Al-Iqlimi area south of Khan Younis, a medical source at Nasser Hospital said.
Witnesses also reported that Israeli tanks opened heavy fire toward residential buildings and displacement tents in several locations across central, southern and northern Khan Younis. The Israeli army additionally carried out widespread demolitions in areas under its control east of the city.
The latest casualties add to the toll from reported ceasefire violations. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli violations had killed 1,522 Palestinians and wounded another 5,421 as of Monday.
The broader humanitarian toll remains substantially higher. Since October 2023, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 175,000 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza, according to Palestinian figures. Around 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure has also been damaged or destroyed.
